Deal
Castle - Most impressive and the largest of the three great
coastal forts of: Sandown, Deal and Walmer built by
Henry VIII to beat off the threat of Invasion from the
Catholic alliance of France and Spain in the 16th century.
The castle shaped liked a Tudor rose and perfectly symmetrical,
is an unusual design consisting of a series of circular
concentric bastions radiating outward from a circular
Keep. You will find it fascinating to explore the battlements,
the numerous dark passages and huge basement. See the
two exhibitions, "Englands coastal defences"
and the "Story of Deal Castle".
